Whereas, Andre Tippett was a resident of the City of Newark, New Jersey and a student at Barringer High School; and
Whereas, Andre Tippett was loved and appreciated by the many residents of the City of Newark, New Jersey; and
Whereas, Andre Tippett, after playing High School football at Barringer and after playing college football and graduating college, became a member of the National Football League's New England Patriots as a professional football player; and
Whereas, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark wants to keep the memory of this professional athlete in the minds of its residents throughout the community by naming Park Avenue and Parker Street Andre Tippett Square for ceremonial and honorary purposes; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT it does hereby authorize the naming of Park Avenue and Parker Street as Andre Tippett Square for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
1. Naming of Park Avenue and Parker Street as Andre Tippett Square for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall Park Avenue and Parker Street in their entirety.
