AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING AS PUBLIC STREETS AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY FROM THE NEWARK HOUSING AUTHORITY PORTIONS OF LAFAYETTE STREET AND MULBERRY STREET, AS CONSTRUCTED AND LOCATED IN BLOCKS 866 AND 867

WHEREAS, the Newark Housing Authority wishes to dedicate portions of Lafayette Street, between Columbia Street and Liberty Street (Block 867) and Columbia Street and Mulberry Street (Block 866); and portions of Mulberry Street, between Lafayette Street and Green Street (Block 866), to the City of Newark for roadway purposes; and

WHEREAS, the property consists of roadway and all improvements of these roadways in association with the Newark Downtown Core Redevelopment Project; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to accept the right-of-way dedication and amend the Official Map of the City.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK,STATE OF NEW JERSEYTHAT:

Section 1. This Ordinance formally accepts the Lafayette Street and Mulberry Street rights-of-way to be dedicated to the City of Newark. The areas to be dedicated and accepted are shown on maps entitled “Mulberry and Lafayette Street Dedication, Block 866, City of Newark” and “Lafayette Street Dedication, Block 867, City of Newark” , dated November 28, 2012, and prepared by Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, which maps are attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Section 2. The legal description of the Mulberry Street and Lafayette Street dedication in Block 866 is as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the proposed southerly line of Lafayette Street, 80 feet wide, and the proposed easterly line of Mulberry Street, 84 feet wide, thence running the following courses and distances:
Along said proposed easterly line of Mulberry Street, South 22°33’47” West a distance of 242.22 feet to the northerly line of Green Street, 50 feet wide; thence
Along said northerly line of Green Street, North 69°16’25” West a distance of 18.22 feet to the existing east...
