Whereas, the late Rev. Isaac Martin, Jr. was one of the many community activists in this great metropolis; and
Whereas, Newark residents were very fond of this consummate public servant for his many contributions to the Church and its members; and
Whereas, the late Reverend Isaac Martin, Jr. leaves behind a legend of community and personal achievements in both his public and private lifestyles; and
Whereas, the Governing Body is seeking to maintain his legacy amongst the residents of the City of Newark, by honoring the many successful years of his unselfish contributions by dedicating this plaza in his honor for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Corner of Springfield Avenue and South 20th Street is hereby designated as the late Reverend Isaac Martin, Jr. Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The official name of said streets shall remain Springfield Avenue and South 20th, Street in its entirety.
