AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:3, PROHIBITED TURNS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING SECTION 23:3-6, NO STRAIGHT THROUGH AT THE INTERSECTION OF HUDSON STREET AND CENTRAL AVENUE.

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering wants to amend Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Newark, by adding a new Section 23:3-6, No Straight Through under Section 23:3, Prohibited Turns,; and
WHEREAS, the County of Essex, Department of Public Works desires to improve safety at the intersection of Hudson Street and Central Ave, in the Central Ward by prohibiting straight through on Hudson Street south bound.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:3, Prohibited Turns, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as Amended and Supplemented, be amended by the following new section:
23:3-6 No Straight Through.
No person shall drive straight through at any of the following intersections:

Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
Statement:
This ordinance prohibits vehicles from driving straight through south bound at the intersection of Hudson Street and Central Avenue, in the Central Ward.
