Whereas, the residents of Puerto Rican descent of the City of Newark, New Jersey has played a major role in the productivity of this community; and
Whereas, the residents of the City of Newark is very fond of the accomplishments of this consummate public servant; and
Whereas, Freddy Velez has devoted his time and effort and self-sacrifice to help build on the social, health and welfare and political progress of this community; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council wants to commemorate the progress made by Freddy Velez by designating street signage in his honor for all residents to enjoy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT it does hereby authorize the naming of Bloomfield Avenue and Clifton Avenue as Freddy Velez Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
1. Naming of Bloomfield Avenue and Clifton Avenue as Freddy Velez Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Bloomfield Avenue and Clifton Avenue in their entirety.
