WHEREAS, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation (NJDOT) provides funds for Local Safety Programs; and
WHEREAS, on April 8, 2013, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) invited the City of Newark to submit proposals for the FY 2014 solicitation of the Local Safety and High Risk Rural Roads Program; and
WHEREAS, on May 7, 2013, the City of Newark, Department of Engineering submitted a FY 2014 Local Safety Program Proposal for Broad Street and Tichenor Street/Lincoln Park, and Dr. MLK, Jr. Boulevard and 7th Avenue/Crane Street to the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) requesting grant funding in the amount of $1,000,000.00; and
