AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:2-1, ONE-WAY STREETS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY AMENDING THE ONE-WAY STREET DESIGNATION ON COURT STREET BETWEEN IRVINE TURNER BOULEVARD AND PRINCE STREET.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to change the two-way designation of Court Street between Charlton Street and Prince Street, to a one-way east bound; and
WHEREAS, these changes are needed for the construction of the Sonic Drive-In Restaurant and Retail Project; and
WHEREAS, Charlton Street was previously vacated as per Municipal Ordinance 6S&FD adopted October 7, 1981, but never closed off to traffic and in order to construct the approved Sonic Drive-In Restaurant and Retail Project, the street will be closed off to all vehicular traffic; and
WHEREAS, vehicles traveling west bound on Court Street will no longer be able to access Charlton Street, so Court Street between Charlton Street and Price Street must be changed from a two-way street to a one-way street east bound.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:2-1, One-Way Streets, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by deleting therefrom the following:
Court Street, east bound, from Irvine Turner Boulevard to Charlton Street
Section 2. That Section 23:2-1, One-Way Streets, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
