AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 40, ZONING, CHAPTER 8, SECTION 3, FEES, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY INCREASING FEES FOR CERTIFICATES OF CODE COMPLIANCE

WHEREAS, any person, who intends to sell, transfer or convey, by deed or otherwise any residence, dwelling, apartment house or structure intended for human habitation in the City of Newark must apply and obtain a Certificate of Code Compliance that ensures that the residence conforms to City housing and zoning ordinances pursuant to N.J.S.A 40:48-2.12a and N.J.S.A. 40:48-2.12m; and
WHEREAS, the City has not adjusted fees for Certificates of Code Compliance since 2009; and
WHEREAS, the cost of inspections and operations associated with issuing Certificates of Code Compliance have increased over the past five (5) years and the proposed fee adjustments listed below represent rates that more closely correspond with rates in other northeast urban cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1: Title 40, Zoning, Chapter 8, Section 3, Fees, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended to read as follows:

for each unit over
100 units
Section 2: Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication, and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
