AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:3-2, LEFT TURNS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY PROHIBITING LEFT TURNS SOUTHBOUND AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF HOLLAND STREET AND SPRINGFIELD AVENUE, AND SOUTH 7^TH STREET AND SPRINGFIELD AVENUE.

WHEREAS, the Essex County Department of Public Works has recommended the prohibition of left turns from Holland Street and South 7^th Street onto Springfield Avenue, in order to improve safety at these intersections.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1.  That Section 23:3-2, Left Turns, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:

South on Holland Street to east on Springfield Avenue

South on South7^th Street to east on Springfield Avenue

Section 2.  Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 3.  This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.

Statement:

This ordinance prohibits vehicles from making a left turn south on Holland Street to east on Springfield Avenue, and south on South 7^th Street, to east on Springfield Avenue.
