WHEREAS, the City of Newark has a very large and vibrant Portuguese community, which has historically contributed greatly to the social, economic and political growth and progress of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Portugal Day Parade, pays tribute to the rich culture heritage of the Portuguese community, in the City of Newark and the Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council is proud to sponsor the 2016 Portugal Day Parade being held on Ferry Street in the East Ward, on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby sponsor the Portugal Day Parade being held on Ferry Streets in the East Ward, on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
