Body

WHEREAS, the New Jersey State Legislature has appropriated funding under the State Body Armor Replacement Fund pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:17B-4.4, to provide for the purchase of body armor vests for eligible police officers in the State of New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark is committed to ensuring the safety of its police officers in the performance of their duties; and

WHEREAS, on August 8, 2016, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Public Safety Director submitted an electronic application to the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice requesting funding (to be set by a pre-determined formula) from the FY2016 Body Armor Replacement Fund Grant Program for the purchase of body armor vests with no City funds required; and

WHEREAS, as a result of this application, the City of Newark Police Division has been awarded funding in the amount of Eighty-Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred Forty One Dollars and Twenty-Five Cents ($89,841.25) from the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, for the purchase of body armor vests, for the period commencing on October 1, 2016...
