Body
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") FY 2017 Bikeways State Aid Program provides Municipalities with grant funding for bicycle lane projects; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the "City") seeks to obtain funding from the FY 2017 Bikeways State Aid Program, to provide access to the Newark Riverfront Park for bicyclists, by creating protected and shared bike lanes connecting the Newark Riverfront Park from the Ironbound Section of the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, the City intends to further the public interest by obtaining funding from the NJDOT FY 2017 Bikeways State Aid Program for construction of protected and shared bike lanes connecting the Newark Riverfront Park from the Ironbound section of the City (the Newark Riverfront Park Connector bike route project); and

WHEREAS, on January 27, 2017, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering, submitted an application, identified as BIKE-2017- Newark Riverfront Park Connector-00043, to NJDOT requesting grant funding in the amount of $356,116.50 from the NJDOT FY 2017 Bikeways State Aid Program, for constructi...
