WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to fifty (50) Constables to establish the term for such appointment at one (1) or three (3) years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to appoint Orlando Vick, Sr., as a Constable, for a three (3) year term. N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Orlando Vick, Sr., of 729 South 20th Street, Newark, New Jersey 07106, is hereby appointed as a Constable, in accordance with his application to serve and deliver summonses and subpoenas to appear in Court for criminal and civil matters; also to provide security to Occupy the Blocks & the Mayor's Critical Response Unit when needed.
2. Prior to entering upon the execution of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by resolution of the Newark Municipal Council.
3. This appointment shall be for a period of three (3) years from the date of the appointment or to the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
