WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, in 1998, the late Mr. John Roulhac, established and coached Little League Baseball and Basketball in Ivy Hill Park. Besides, his leadership as the best district leader in the West Ward, he also served for several years as Secretary of the Ivy Hill Neighborhood Association and could always be counted on for every community project in Ivy Hill; and
WHEREAS, most notably, Mr. John Roulhac established the Neighborhood Association as a 501(c)(3) organization and assisted in writing the first Green Acres Grant to fix up Ivy Hill Park; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body is seeking to maintain the legacy among Newark residents by honoring the many successful years of his unselfish contributions by dedicating a Plaza in his honor for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Chapman Street and Mt. Vernon Place as “John Roulhac Plaza”.
2. The official names of the said streets shall remain as Chapman Street and Mt. Vernon Place in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Chapman Street and Mt. Vernon Place as “John Roulhac Plaza”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
