WHEREAS, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, submitted an application to the United States Department of Justice - Bureau of Justice Assistance, requesting funding in the amount of $496,920.00 from the FY2017 Bureau of Justice Assistance - Body Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program, to fund the purchase, development and evaluation of a body camera implementation initiative within the Newark Police Division ("NPD"); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the grant application, a copy of which is attached hereto, the City of Newark is required to provide a fifty percent (50%) cash match of $496,920.00, towards the total project cost of $993,840.00. The cash match which will be provided through the 2017 Newark Municipal Budget, more specifically, Fund 045, Dept. 17G, Project Code 17A10, Account Code 94710, Budget Reference B2017; and
