WHEREAS, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Department of Public Safety Director, submitted an application to the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety requesting funding in the amount of $126,342.00 from the FY2016 National Crime Statistics Exchange (NCS-X) Implementation Assistance Program, to fund the purchase, development and installation of an upgrade to the Police Division's Computer Aided Dispatch System; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Police Division was among the twenty-eight (28) agencies selected to participate in the National Crime Statistics Exchange (NCS-X) project within the State of New Jersey. The goal of the project is to provide more accurate data to analyze crime trends at the state and national levels by initiating the transition from the older Uniform Crime Report (UCR) summary system to the recently established National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS); and
