AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, SECTION 23:5-14e, PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY IN DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL AREAS, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING POLK STREET BETWEEN LAFAYETTE STREET AND CLOVER STREET TO INCLUDE FOUR (4) HOUR PARKING FOR VISITORS. WHEREAS, the East Ward Councilman, based on complaints from shoppers, has requested to add four (4) hour parking to the Residential Permit Parking on Polk Street between Lafayette Street and Clover Street, in the East Ward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-14e, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, be amended and supplemented by adding thereto the following:
Polk Street, both sides, between Lafayette Street and Clover Street (Hours: 24hrs. /Days: Monday-Sunday) Four (4) hour parking for visitors
Section 2. Regulatory signs shall be erected and maintained by the City of Newark.
Section 3. Any ordinance, or parts thereof, inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 5. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance amends Title 23, Traffic and Parking, Section 23:5-14e, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, of the revised general ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, to add four (4) hour parking for visitors to the Residential Permit Parking on Polk Street between Lafayette Street and Clover Street, in the East Ward.
