WHEREAS, Irish-Americans from organizations located primarily in Essex, Hudson, and Union counties came together in 1936 to form the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, Inc., sponsor of New Jersey's first and finest Saint Patrick's Day Parade; and

WHEREAS, the 2019 Saint Patrick's Day Parade will be led by Grand Marshal Sean O'Neill, Chief Engineer at the Panasonic Building in Newark and Past President of the Ironbound Irish American Association while the Deputy Grand Marshal will be Kathleen M. Conlon, Director of Burn Community and Disaster Programs at The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, the 2019 Saint Patrick's Day Parade will be dedicated to the late Thomas J. Gartland, who distinguished himself as a strong supporter of the Saint Patrick's Day Parade for many years; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of the Grand Marshal and the Deputy Grand Marshal, as well as General Chairman Michael D. Byrne, the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee is also the sponsor of Irish Heritage Week in Newark featuring a week-long promotion for restaurants, Art and Essay Contests for students of the Archdiocese of Newark, an Annual Student History Breakfast, the sev...
