WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") for the 2020 Safe Streets to Transit Program (the "SST Program"), provides grant funding for infrastructure improvements for traditional and non-traditional transportation initiatives that enable and encourage walking and bicycling to transit; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark seeks to obtain funding from the 2020 SST Program to improve the intersection at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Sussex Ave and Central Avenue; and

WHEREAS, on June 4, 2019, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering, submitted an electronic application to NJDOT requesting grant funding in the amount of $231,950.00, from the 2020 SST Program to improve the intersection at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Sussex Ave and Central Avenue, with no City funds required; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the grant application, a copy of which is attached hereto, the City of Newark is required to submit a resolution from the Newark Municipal Council authorizing submission of the grant applicatio...
