WHEREAS, the City of Newark's Department of Health and Community Wellness desires to continue providing lead hazard reduction services in eligible housing units throughout the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, has funds available for the provision of such services; and

WHEREAS, on August 7, 2019, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD),451 Seventh Street, SW Washington, DC 20410, requesting grant funding in the amount of Five Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,600,000.00), for the Lead Hazard & Healthy Homes Reduction Program, to identify and implement cost-effective lead hazard reduction measures to correct lead hazards in eligible housing units throughout the City of Newark; and
