WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Division of Food and Nutrition, reimburses the City of Newark for meals served to children who live in areas in which at least 50% of the children qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark provides meals to children in Newark through the SuNuP Food Service Program and is in need of additional funding to sustain the program and continue the provision of meals for Summer 2020; and
WHEREAS, on March 19, 2020, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs and Senior Services submitted an application to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs, requesting grant funding in the amount of One Million Five Hundred Eighteen Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty-One Dollars and Fifty-Four Cents ($1,518,881.54) from the 2020 Summer Food Service Pr...
