WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PDF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Regena McCray Palmer was born and raised in Newark and worked for the City of Newark in the Department of Administration, Office of Management and Budget for eighteen (18) years; and

WHEREAS, Regena McCray Palmer was a prominent Newark resident and community activist; and

WHEREAS, Regena McCray Palmer participated in many Newark organizations, both civic and religious over the years, including receiving her Clergy Ordination Certificate and License in 2008; and

WHEREAS, she tirelessly served the public by monitoring at-risk youth in juvenile detention centers; served as a Chaplain with the Clergy Affairs Unit of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Police; lent her expertise to the Newark Renaissance House and the Clinton Hill Preservation Committee, and generously gave her time for various food banks for Sanctuary Church; among other activities; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council wishes to name an intersection in her honor.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
