WHEREAS, the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program's mission is to enhance regional preparedness in major metropolitan areas through direct assistance to participating jurisdictions in developing an integrated regional system for prevention, protection, response and recovery from terrorist events or natural catastrophes; and
WHEREAS, through Resolution 7R9-a adopted on November 18, 2019, the Municipal Council ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Coordinator of Emergency Management and Homeland Security to accept a grant award in the amount of $1,707,500.00 from the State of New Jersey, Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness for the prevention, protection, response and recovery from terrorist events or natural catastrophe...
