WHEREAS, Resolution 7R8-f was adopted by the Municipal Council on July 13, 2022, for a ceremonial street designation at the intersection of Hansbury Avenue and Parkview Terrace, renaming it Honorable Mildred C. Crump Place; and

WHEREAS, the Honorable Mildred C. Crump, who was born, raised and educated in Detroit, Michigan, became a trailblazer and promoter of women rights, empowerment and equality throughout her lifetime of enormous achievements and firsts: the first African-American Braille teacher in Detroit, the first African American Braille teacher in the State of New Jersey, the first African American woman to win election as Council Member-at-large and the first African-American woman to hold the position of Newark Municipal Council President; and

WHEREAS, undoubtedly one of the most politically influential and astute politicians in the State of New Jersey, Municipal Council President Mildred C.
