WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120, Jamar Piercy, of Newark, New Jersey 07108, was appointed as a Constable pursuant to Resolution 7R8-a(S), adopted at the October 25, 2022, Municipal Council Special Meeting; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-125, Jamar Piercy, of Newark, New Jersey 07108, must give a bond, in such form and amount as prescribed by the Governing Body and approved as to form and sufficiency by the Corporation Counsel and the Municipal Council; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121, a Constable must qualify within thirty (30) days of the initial adoption of the resolution of appointment, and shall hold office for a term of three (3) years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The term of the Constable appointment of Jamar Piercy, of Newark, New Jersey 07108, is for a term of three (3) years from the date of appointment or the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
2. The Constable Bond, in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00), issued to Jamar Piercy, of Newark, New Jersey 07108, is approved as to form, amount, and sufficiency.
