WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Gabriella Grace Irene, affectionately known as "Gabby" was born on the luckiest of days, Saint Patrick's Day, March 17, 2014; and
WHEREAS, "Gabby ", was an exceptional child and a scholar at Salome Urena School up until the day of her passing on Friday, September 13, 2019; and
WHEREAS, on a morning in late 2018 Gabby woke up complaining of a stomachache, after the doctor visit and various tests she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer; and
WHEREAS, during the final eleven (11) months of young Gabby's life, her inner determination, zest for life and enchanting smiles never diminished while enduring the painful treatment regiments. Her never-give-up attitude, faith and foremost, like her name grace, is a lasting legacy to her short and impactful life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of North 10th Street and First Avenue as "Gabriella Grace Irene Way."
