The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($550.00) for the street festival will be waived.

Whereas, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the residents of Newark, while also bringing attention and awareness to an issue that effects all segments of the society; and
WHEREAS, the Juneteenth Festival will be held on Bergen Street between Lyons Avenue and Nye Avenue from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The City of Newark’s Special Event Application Fee of Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($(500.00) for the event will be waived; and
WHEREAS, the Juneteenth Festival provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations such as
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Juneteenth Festival that will be held on Bergen Street between Lyons Avenue and Nye Avenue from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Juneteenth Festival that will be held on Bergen Street between Lyons Avenue and Nye Avenue, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
2. The Municipal Council is sponsoring this event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of Five Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($550.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
