The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00) for street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances an establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Annual Children’s Halloween Parade Caravan and Candy Giveaway provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations, families and friends that reside in the community by sharing a youth parade caravan and candy giveaway for Halloween; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Annual Children’s Halloween Parade Caravan and Candy Giveaway, will be held from Elwood Avenue to Verona Avenue between Woodside Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue (North Ward), on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 (Rain Date: Wednesday, November 1, 2023), from the hours of 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Annual Children’s Halloween Parade Caravan and Candy Giveaway, which will be held from Elwood Avenue to Verona Avenue between Woodside Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue (North Ward), on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 (Rain Date: Wednesday, November 1, 2023), from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Annual Children’s Halloween Parade Caravan and Candy Giveaway, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), which will be held from Elwood Avenue to Verona Avenue between Woodside Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue (North Ward), on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 (Rain Date: Wednesday, November 1, 2023), from the hours of 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., sponsored by Council Member, Luis A. Quintana.
