WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the residents of Newark while also bringing attention and awareness to an issue that effects all segments of the society; and
WHEREAS, the Juan Pablo Duarte 213th Birthday floral offering will provide the City of Newark and its residents the opportunity to celebrate the founding father of the Dominican Republic; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Juan Pablo Duarte 213th Birthday floral offering, to be held at the Thomas Silk Park, Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Juan Pablo Duarte 213th Birthday floral offering at Thomas Silk Park, on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($200.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Juan Pablo Duarte 213th Birthday floral offering, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($200.00), for an event to be held in Thomas Silk Park (North Ward), on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., sponsored by Council Member, Luis A. Quintana, at-Large.
