WHEREAS, Newark Alliance, located at 58 Park Place, 2nd Floor, Newark, New Jersey 07102, desires to provide a gift of One Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($125,000.00) to the City of Newark to support the City’s commitment to strengthen the efficiency of grant processes across various City departments (“Gift”); and

 

WHEREAS, said gift reflect Newark Alliance’s investment in the City of Newark; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Local Public Contract Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:5-29, a local unit is authorized and empowered to accept bequest, legacies, and gifts made to it and is empowered to utilize such bequests, legacies, and gifts in the manner set forth in the conditions of the bequest, legacy, and gift provided, however, that such bequest, legacy, or gift shall not be put to any use, which is inconsistent with the State of New Jersey and the United State of America; and

 

WHEREAS, Newark Alliance fully understands and agrees it is not entitled to receive any direct benefit from the City of Newark in exchange for its gift; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A: 5-29, the Business Administrator desires to accept the gift of One Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($125,000.00).

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Municipal Council authorizes the Business Administrator, on behalf of the City of Newark, to accept the gift of One Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($125,000.00), from Newark Alliance, located 58 Park Place, 2nd Floor, Newark, New Jersey 07102, to support the City’s commitment to strengthen the efficiency of grant processes across various City departments (“Gift”).

 

2.                      The Municipal Council ratifies its acceptance from August 12, 2026, to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution. 

 

3.                     No municipal funds shall be expended for the acceptance of this Gift. 

 

4.                     The City acknowledges the generous gift of One Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($125,000.00) through this Resolution.

                     

5.                     The Business Administrator shall file a copy of the Gift letter in the Office of the City Clerk.

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the acceptance of funding from Newark Alliance in the amount One Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($125,000.00) to support the City’s commitment to strengthen the efficiency of grant processes across various City departments. No consideration shall be provided to Newark Alliance in exchange for this donation.
