WHEREAS, Newark Housing Authority, 500 Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard Newark, New Jersey 07102 (“NHA”) would like to make to the City of Newark (“City”) a cash donation of Twenty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($20,000.00) to support the Newark Senior’s Holiday Celebration held on December 2, 2025; and
WHEREAS, said donation reflects NHA’s commitment to uplifting Newark’s senior residents; and
WHEREAS, each year our seniors look forward to opportunities to connect with the broader community, and NHA is proud to support an event that brings them joy, fellowship, and recognition during the holiday season; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services (“Department”) desires to accept the$20,000.00 cash donation; and
WHEREAS, the donation will be deposited into the Recreational & Cultural Affairs Activities Trust Fund Account #026-46160; and
WHEREAS, NHA fully understands and agrees that it is not entitled to receive any direct benefit from the City, Mayor Ras J. Baraka, or any other City personnel in exchange for the gift; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:5-29, a municipality is authorized and empowered to accept bequests, legacies and gifts made to it and is empowered to utilize such bequests, legacies and gifts in the manner set forth in the conditions of the bequest, legacy or gift provided, however, that such bequest, legacy, or gift shall not be put to any use which is inconsistent with the laws of the State of New Jersey and the United States of America.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services are authorized to accept the Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) cash donation from Newark Housing Authority, 500 Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard, Newark, New Jersey 07102 (“NHA”), which is made in support of Newark Senior Holiday Celebration.
2. The Municipal Council ratifies its acceptance from the date of the gift to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
3. The City of Newark acknowledges the generous cash donation of $20,000.00 from NHA through this resolution.
4. No municipal funds will be expended for the acceptance of this gift.
5. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:5-15, the cash donation shall immediately be paid to the Chief Financial Officer who is directed to credit same to the Recreational Trust Fund.

This Resolution authorizes the Mayor and/or the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services to accept a $20,000.00 donation from Newark Housing Authority, Newark, New Jersey 07102, which is made in support of the Newark Seniors Holiday Celebration held on December 2, 2025.
