WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the residents of Newark, while also bringing attention and awareness to an issue that effects all segments of the society; and
WHEREAS, the Holiday Lights Parade is a community activity for the children and residents which will be followed by a tree lighting ceremony on Treadwell Place and Mt. Prospect Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Holiday Lights Parade beginning on Heller Parkway and Mt. Prospect Avenue and ending on Mt. Prospect Avenue and 2nd Avenue, Newark, New Jersey.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Holiday Lights Parade, to be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., on Heller Parkway and Mt. Prospect Avenue and ending on Mt. Prospect Avenue and 2nd Avenue, Newark, New Jersey.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of Two Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($200.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council
the Holiday Lights Parade, to be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6:00
P.M. until 8:00 P.M., on Heller Parkway and Mt. Prospect Avenue and ending on
Mt. Prospect Avenue and 2nd Avenue, Newark, New Jersey, waiving the City of
Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of $200.00, Anibal Ramos, Jr.,
North Ward Council Member.
