Additional Information: 

This Resolution amends Resolution 7R7-a adopted on December 6, 2023 to accept additional Grant Funds in the amount of $1,316,188.00 thereby increasing the Grant Award from $6,732,267.00 to $8,048,455.00.

WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the “City”) seeks to acquire, develop and operate a community resource center to offer housing and economic services to City residents as part of its implementation of its “Newark Drop-In Center Program” (the “Program”); and

 

WHEREAS, Resolution 7R7-a adopted on December 6, 2023, authorized the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness (“DHCW”), to apply for and accept  Grant  Funds from New Jersey Department of Community Affairs 101 Broad Street, Trenton, New Jersey 08625 (“DCA”), in the amount of Six Million Seven Hundred Thirty-Two Thousand Two Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($6,732,267.00) for the period of March 15, 2021 through December 31, 2026; and

 

WHEREAS, the DCA, has made additional funds available for the provision of developing a community resource center to offer housing, health and economic services to City residents; and

 

WHEREAS, on May 27, 2026, the DCA notified DHCW of an award of additional funds in the amount of One Million Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,316,188.00), for the Program, thereby increasing the Grant Amount to Eight Million Forty-Eight Thousand Four Hundred Fifty-Five Dollars and Zero Cents ($8,048,455.00) (a copy of the Notice of Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and

 

WHEREAS, the City’s, DHCW, desires to accept the additional funds in the amount One Million Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents. ($1,316.188.00); and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (The “DCA)”, may extend the time of the Grant Award and/or provide additional funds, if made available; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Community Affairs, will amend the Grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease additional funds, if made available.

 

WHEREAS, no municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this Grant Award.

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept and expend additional funds in the amount of One Million Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,316,188.00), from New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, 101 Broad Street, Trenton, New Jersey 08625-0360, for the Grant Period of March 15, 2021 through December 31, 2026.

 

2.                     Resolution 7R7-a adopted on December 06, 2023, is hereby amended to accept additional funds in the amount of One Million Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,316.188.00) thereby increasing the total Grant Award to Eight Million Forty-Eight Thousand Four Hundred Fifty-Five Dollars and Zero Cents ($8,048,455.00).  

 

3.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies it’s the acceptance of additional funds from May 27, 2026 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

4.                     The Grant Award in the amount of One Million Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,316,188.00) from New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, is hereby accepted.

 

5.                     All other terms of Resolution 7R7-a adopted on December 6, 2023 shall remain the same.

 

6.                     No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this Grant Award.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution ratifies, authorizes, and amends the actions taken by the Mayor and/or his designee, the Business Administrator and/or  the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness via Resolution 7R7-a December 6, 2023, which accepted the Grant Funds in the amount of Six Million Seven Hundred Thirty-Two Thousand Two Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($6,732,267.00) to accept and expend additional funds in the amount of One Million Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents. ($1,316.188.00) from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs,101 Broad Street, Trenton, New Jersey 08625-0360, and United States Treasury Department (the “U.S. Treasury”) Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund Grant to continue support of the Community Resource Center to Newark residents for the Grant Period of March 15, 2021 through December 31, 2026. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of the Grant Award.
