Resolution7R2-a adopted on November 2, 2016, authorized the acceptance of funds in the amount of $124,113.00. This amendment seeks to accept additional funds in the amount of $23,175.00, increasing the total grant award to $147,288.00.

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Health provided funds for sexually transmitted disease outreach and education; and
WHEREAS, on November 2, 2016, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R2-A, which ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Interim Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to apply for and accept grant funds in the amount of $124,113.00 from the New Jersey Department of Health; and
WHEREAS, on February 14, 2017, the New Jersey Department of Health (hereinafter “NJDOH”), notified the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, that the NJDOH authorized an additional $23,175.00 in grant funds for the provision of additional STD/Zika screenings and public interventions, which amounts to a total grant amount of $147,288.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, desires to accept the additional awarded grant funds in the amount of $23,175.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark recognizes that the New Jersey Department of Health may extend the grant time and/or provide additional funds if made available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The grant agreement authorized by Resolution 7R2-A adopted November 2, 2016, is hereby amended to accept the additional funding in the amount of $23,175.00, increasing the overall funds accepted from $124,113.00 to $147,288.00 to provide STD/Zika screenings and public interventions.
2. The Mayor and/or his designee, the Interim Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to receive and expend the grant award for the purpose set forth in the grant award letter dated February 14, 2017 and/or in an amended grant agreement, for the period commencing on January 1, 2017, and terminating on June 30, 2017.
3. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from February 14, 2017, to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.
4. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
STATEMENT
This resolution ratifies and authorizes the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, to amend the grant agreement authorized by Resolution 7R2-A, adopted November 2, 2016, to accept additional funds in the amount of $23,175.00 from the New Jersey Department of Health, to provide STD/Zika screenings and public interventions, for the period commencing on July 1, 2016, and terminating on June 30, 2017, at the City’s Communicable Disease Prevention and Treatment Center. No municipal funds are required for the acceptance of the grant funds.
