WHEREAS, the Municipal Council desires to support a Mental Health Awareness Walk to be held at Branch Brook Park at Heller Parkway in front of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department Gas Station inside Branch Brook Park, directly where the soccer field is located and down the street from the dog park, Newark, New Jersey 07104, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 1:00 PM (includes set-up beginning at 9:00 AM and tear down concluding at 1:00 PM); and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support for this community-oriented event benefitting Newark residents by authorizing the issuance of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission, for the benefit of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 155 Prospect Ave Suite 100, West Orange, New Jersey 07052.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby authorizes the issuance of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, to be drawn by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission, for the benefit of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 155 Prospect Avenue, Suite 100, West Orange, New Jersey 07052, for any claims arising out of the City of Newark’s use of Branch Brook Park, at Heller Parkway in front of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department Gas Station inside Branch Brook Park, directly where the soccer field is located and down the street from the dog park, Newark, New Jersey 07104, in connection with a Mental Health Awareness Walk, to be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 1:00 PM (includes set-up beginning at 9:00 AM and tear down concluding at 1:00 PM.)
2. The City Clerk, on behalf of the Municipal Council, shall forward a true copy of the executed Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement to the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 115 Clifton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07104, for its records.
3. A copy of the executed Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This Resolution authorizes the issuance, by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission, of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, in favor of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs in connection with the City of Newark’s use of Branch Brook Park at Heller Parkway in front of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department Gas Station inside Branch Brook Park, directly where the soccer field is located and down the street from the dog park, Newark, New Jersey 07104, for a Mental Health Awareness Walk sponsored by Council Member Anibal Ramos, Jr., to be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 1:00 PM (includes set-up beginning at 9:00 AM and tear down concluding at 1:00 PM.)
