WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances an establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, The Future is Newark - Halsey Street Festival provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations, businesses, families and friends that reside in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of The Future is Newark - Halsey Street Festival, which will be held on Halsey Street between Central Avenue and Linden Avenue (Central Ward), on Thursday, September 14, 2023 (Rain Date Thursday, October 5, 2023), from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of The Future is Newark - Halsey Street Festival, which will be held on Halsey Street between Central Avenue and Linden Avenue (Central Ward), on Thursday, September 14, 2023, (Rain Date: Thursday, October 5, 2023), from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
2. This Fee Waiver is hereby ratified from September 14, 2023 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
3. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees ($550.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of The Future is Newark - Halsey Street Festival, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees of ($550.00), which will be held on Halsey Street between Central Avenue and Linden Avenue (Central Ward), on Thursday, September 14, 2023, (Rain Date: Thursday, October 5, 2023), from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., co-sponsored by Council President, LaMonica R. McIver.
