Amending Apply/Accept Resolution 7R5-a adopted on February 7, 2024, to accept additional grant funds of $13,813.00.

 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 7R5-a, adopted on February 7, 2024, the City of Newark’s (the “City”) Department of Health and Community Wellness accepted a sub-award from Seton Hall University located at 400 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, New Jersey 07070 (“Seton Hall”) in the amount of Two Hundred Ninety Three Thousand One Hundred Forty Two Dollars and Zero Cents ($293,142.00) for the expansion and strengthening of the nurse workforce for integrated health in vulnerable populations;  and

 

WHEREAS, Seton Hall has received additional funds from the United States Health Resources and Services Administration; and

 

WHEREAS, Seton Hall wishes to amend the sub-award to the City in the amount of Thirteen Thousand Eight Hundred Thirteen Dollars and Zero Cents ($13,813.00), for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024(a copy of the Supplemental Notice of Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and

 

WHEREAS, the City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness, desires to accept the additional funds; and

 

WHEREAS, no matching funds from the City are required in the acceptance of this grant award; and

 

 

WHEREAS, Seton Hall may amend the grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease of additional funds, if made available (see Letter of Amendment attached hereto); and

 

WHEREAS, the City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness, shall upon any such extension of time of the grant and/or increase or decrease of additional funds, file an amending resolution reflecting the final term and award amount of the grant; and 

 

WHEREAS, terms of this grant award may only be waived or amended by the parties duly authorized to execute the grant, subject to the approval of the Municipal Council by resolution.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept  and expend additional funds from Seton Hall University (“Seton Hall”), 400 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, New Jersey 07079, to expand and strengthen the nurse workforce for integrated health in vulnerable populations for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

 

2.                      A copy of the letter of Amendment is attached hereto and made a part hereof.                                                                                                               

 

3.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies its authorization of this application from the date of application submission, on or about February 22, 2022, to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

 

4.                     The City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness, shall upon any extension of time of the grant, and/or increase or decrease of additional funds, file an amending resolution reflecting the final time and award amount of the grant.

 

5.                     No matching or in-kind municipal funds are required for the acceptance of this grant.

 

6.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from the date the electronic acceptance was filed to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

7.                     The Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness shall file a fully executed copy of the grant application and notice of grant in the Office of the City Clerk.

 

                                                 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the actions taken by the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to amend the grant to accept additional grant funds in the amount of Thirteen Thousand Eight Hundred Thirteen Dollars and Zero Cents ($13,813.00) for the continued expansion and strengthening of the nurse workforce for integrated health in vulnerable populations, for the period commencing July 1, 2023 and terminating June 30, 2024.   No matching funds are required for the receipt or acceptance of these grant funds.
