WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances an establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Jacob Street Block Party will provide the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with the families and friends that reside within the City and its communities, while enjoying hot dogs, hamburgers, and receiving school supplies for the new school year; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Jacob Street Block Party, which will be held on 7th Street and Holland Avenue (Central Ward), from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. (Rain Date: Saturday, August 26, 2023).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Jacob Street Block Party, to be held on 7th Street and Holland Avenue (Central Ward), from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. (Rain Date: Saturday, August 26, 2023).
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Jacob Street Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), to be held on 7th Street and Holland Avenue (Central Ward), on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., (Rain Date: Saturday, August 26, 2023), co-sponsored by Council President, LaMonica R. McIver
