WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service and entertainment to the residents of Newark while also bringing attention and awareness to all segments of the society; and
WHEREAS, the Treacy Avenue Block Association Party/Back to School event will enrich the community by giving our area an opportunity to get to meet and socialize with the neighbors and youngsters that we rarely see, and also listening to music playing, food and soft drinks are being shared; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Treacy Avenue Block Association Party/Back to School being held on Saturday,
August 22, 2026 (Rain Date, Saturday, September 5, 2026), Treacy Avenue between Avon Avenue and Clinton Avenue Newark, from the hours 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Treacy Avenue Block Association Party/Back to School being held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 (Rain Date, Saturday, September 5, 2026), on Treacy Avenue between Avon Avenue and Clinton Avenue Newark, from the hours of 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($100.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.

This resolution supports and declares sponsorship by the Municipal Council of Treacy Avenue Block Association Party/Back to School being held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 (Rain Date, Saturday, September 5, 2026) on Treacy Avenue between Avon Avenue and Clinton Avenue, Newark, from the hours of 11:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($100.00), for an event to be held in the South Ward), co-sponsored by Council Member Patrick O. Council.
