 WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

 

WHEREAS, former Newark Police Officer Hector Moya was a proud deeply community-minded and concerned resident, wanted to make a difference in the lives of his friends, family and community and without any consternation  joined the Newark Police Department; and   

 

WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished career, Police Officer Moya was a dedicated and skilled officer. His “can-do” attitude, commitment and selfless service to the Newark community, is a testament to the countless number of lives he touched with his unbounded generosity, compassion and kindness.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

                     

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Mt. Prospect Avenue and Grafton Avenue as “P/O Hector Moya Way”.

 

2.                     The official name of the said streets shall remain Mt. Prospect Avenue and Grafton Avenue in their entirety.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of Mt. Prospect Avenue and Grafton Avenue “P/O Hector Moya Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
