WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Nasto’s “Old World Desserts” Ice Cream Co., was founded in 1939 by the late Frank, Sr. and Angelina Nasto, who began as a neighborhood mom-and-pop corner store-front; and
WHEREAS, with the installation of an ice cream batch machine in the front window showcase, people would come to Nasto’s just to watch the process of ice cream and Italian style ices. Soon the business grew into both a retail and wholesale operation, making specialties such as Bisque Tortoni and Spumoni from recipes handed down from Frank Senior’s native Nocera, Italy; and
WHEREAS, Nasto’s still remains today, in the historic Ironbound District of Newark, New Jersey, utilizing the latest technology coupled with a commitment and passion to deliver a consistent high-quality product by way of the third generation of family members; and
WHEREAS, Nasto’s Ice Cream Co., is woven into the daily lives of the community, families celebrating, businesses, it is also a gathering place where generations of Newark residents created memories.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of East Kinney Street and Jefferson Street as “Nasto’s Way.”
2. The official name of said streets shall remain East Kinney Street and Jefferson Street in its entirety.

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of East Kinney Street and Jefferson Street as “Nasto’s Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
