WHEREAS, at the request of the Department of Engineering, a review of the traffic operations by New Jersey Transit in conjunction with the City of Newark, Division of Traffic and Signals, and pursuant to N.J.S.A 39:4-197(3)(a), the following described locations designates the deletion of a bus stop:

 

DELETED BUS STOPS:

 

1.                     In the North Ward, along Heller Parkway, eastbound on the southerly side thereof:

 

Parker Street, nearside

Beginning at the westerly curb line of Parker Street and extending 105 feet westerly therefrom.

 

2.                     In the North Ward, along Heller Parkway, westbound on the northerly side thereof:

 

Parker Street, nearside

Beginning at the easterly curb line of Parker Street and extending 105 feet easterly therefrom.

 

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may by ordinance, resolution or regulation designate or delete a bus stop; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(e), a municipality may without the approval of the Commissioner, and consistent with the current standards prescribed by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, by ordinance, resolution or regulation in any street under its jurisdiction designate stops.

                     

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     In the North Ward, the following described locations ishereby deleted:

Along Heller Parkway, eastbound on the southerly side, at Parker Street (nearside) beginning at the westerly curb line of Parker Street and extending 105 feet westerly therefrom, also.

Along Heller Parkway, westbound on the northerly side, at Parker Street (nearside) beginning at the easterly curb line of Parker Street and extending 105 feet easterly therefrom.

 

2.                     No Municipal funds need to be expended for this act.

 

3.                     No Amendment will be made to this resolution without the approval of the Municipal Council of the City of Newark.

 

4.                     Upon approval, the Engineering Department will forward a copy of this resolution to the City Clerk’s Office to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the deletion of bus stops as stated.

 

5.                     Upon approval, a certified copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to New Jersey Transit to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the deletion of bus stops as stated.

 

6.                     Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8 (e) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, the proposed bus stop deletions does not require New Jersey Department of Transportation’s approval.

 

 

 

 

 

STATEMENT

                                                                                                                              

This resolution designates the deletion of bus stops in the North Ward as follows:

Along Heller Parkway, eastbound on the southerly side, at Parker Street (nearside) beginning at the westerly curb line of Parker Street and extending 105 feet westerly therefrom, also.

Along Heller Parkway, westbound on the northerly side, at Parker Street (nearside) beginning at the easterly curb line of Parker Street and extending 105 feet easterly therefrom.
