WHEREAS, on September 18, 2013 through Resolution 7R1-j, dates September 09, 2013, the Municipal Council authorized the Mayor and Business Administrator to file a new consolidated plan with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development( HUD), which contains a request for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the amount $6,752,671.00, HOME funds in the amount $1,799,805.00 Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) in the amount of $6,419,016.00 (on behalf of Newark and the "Eligible Metropolitan Area"), and Emergency Shelter Grant funds in the amount of $483,211.00, in compliance with Federal statutes and regulations governing the four aid grant programs; and
WHEREAS, on September 18, 2013 through Resolution 7R1-j, dated the Municipal Council authorized the Mayor and Business Administrator to enter into four separate agreements with HUD to receive and expend FY 2013 Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $6,752,671.00, HOME funds in the amount $1,799,805.00 Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) in the amount of $6,419,016.00 (on behalf of Newark and the "Eligible Metropolitan Area"), and Emergency Shelter Grant funds in the amount of $483,211.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to establish the block grant program and appropriate the funds to the various sub-grantees with in all wards of the City of Newark.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
