The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00) for street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances an establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Sanford Place Block Association and Friends, Inc., Annual Block Party provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations, families and friends that have resided in the community by sharing games, food and networking; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Sanford Place Block Association and Friends, Inc., Annual Block Party, which will be held on the cross streets of Eastern Parkway and Sanford Place and Kerrigan Boulevard and Sanford Place (West Ward), on Saturday, September 9, 2023 (Rain Date: September 10, 2023) 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Sanford Place Block Association & Friends, Inc., will be held on Sanford Place between Eastern Parkway and Kerrigan Boulevard (West Ward), on Saturday, September 9, 2023 (Rain Date: Sunday, September 10, 2023) , from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Sanford Place Block Association and Friends, Inc., Annual Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), which will be held on Sanford Place between Eastern Parkway and Kerrigan Boulevard (West Ward), on Saturday, September 9, 2023 (Rain Date: September 10, 2023), from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., sponsored by Council Member, Dupre’ L. Kelly.
