WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Barbara Glanton started the Young Disciples Ministries on March 25, 1986, she has gone on to further establish over twenty-one (21) outreach ministries that offers services to an array of residents in her community, as well as all residents of the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Barbara Glanton in addition to serving individuals, continues to teach children and adults, provide meals to those in need, minister the homeless, provide clothing and books all under the Young Disciples Ministries; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Barbara Glanton has served on numerous Boards for non-profit organizations that are committed to strengthening families; Bishop Glanton has remained steadfast in ministering to the community. Her tenacity and unyielding dedication to healing our community has contributed to countless residents of the City of Newark. Because of her love for people and winning souls, she continues to reach out to anyone in need of service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby authorizes the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Boylan Street and Abinger Place as “Bishop Barbara Glanton Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Boylan Street and Abinger Place their entirety.

This resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of Boylan Street and Abinger Place as “Bishop Barbara Glanton Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
