This Resolution authorizes a time extension only for Contract #2025-03 for the Renovation of the New Drop-In Center located at 1136 Raymond Boulevard, Newark, New Jersey. The total contract amount remains unchanged at $4,349,000.00. The extension of the contract period is required to allow for completion of the project.

WHEREAS, on May 19, 2025, the City of Newark (the “City”), pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1, et seq., publicly advertised and solicited bids for the Renovation of the New Drop-In Center located at 1136 Raymond Boulevard, Newark, New Jersey 07102 (Block 144.01, Lot;46.03) (“Project”), which contract has been designated as, Contract 2025-03; and
WHEREAS, on June 26, 2025 five (5) bids for Contract 2025-03 were received, publicly opened, and read aloud; and
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Resolution 7R3-k 08/06/2025, The G Meyer Group, Inc., located at 1009 New Brunswick Avenue, Manasquan, New Jersey 08736 (“Contractor”), was awarded the contract for the Project, as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid in the total amount of Four Million Three Hundred Forty-Nine Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($4,349,000.00); and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering issued a Notice to Proceed on September 15, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the original contract completion period was three hundred sixty-five (365) consecutive calendar days from the date of issuance of the Notice to Proceed; and
WHEREAS, additional time is necessary to complete the work associated with Project; and
WHEREAS, the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to authorize a time extension through November 30, 2026 for the completion of the Project with no increase to the contract amount.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering, are hereby authorized to execute Change Order/Amendment # 1 to Contract 2025-03 with The G Meyer Group, Inc., 1009 New Brunswick Avenue, Manasquan New Jersey 08736, to extend the contract completion date. The authority granted by this Resolution is ratified back to September 15, 2026.
2. The original contract amount of Four Million Three Hundred Forty-Nine Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($4,349,000.00) shall remain unchanged.
3. The initial Notice to Proceed was issued on September 15, 2025. The contract completion date is being extended through November 30, 2026.
4. All other terms and conditions of Contract 2025-03 shall remain in full force and effect.
5. A fully executed copy of the Amendment shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk by the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering and/or her designee.
