                     WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in the Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of Two Million Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,012,500.00), for the Childhood Lead Program and no adequate provision has been made in the 2024 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose; and

 

WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and

 

                     WHEREAS, by the Letter of Intent dated June 25, 2024, the New Jersey Department of Health, CLEP Program awarded the City of Newark funds in the amount of Two Million Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,012,500.00). The aforementioned program will provide funds for the provision of health care and supportive services to the residents of the City of Newark; and

 

                     WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A: 4-20 provides that the Governing Body, by a two-thirds vote, may make temporary emergency appropriations for any purpose for which appropriations may lawfully be made for the period between the beginning of the current fiscal year and the date of the adoption of the budget for said year; and

 

                     WHEREAS, emergency appropriation adopted in 2024, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A: 4-20 including this Resolution total………………$ 488,303,339.64.

 

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY THAT:

 

1.                      A temporary emergency appropriation be and the same is hereby made for the following classification.

2.                     The temporary emergency appropriation shall be provided for in the 2024 budget.

 

3.                     A copy of this Resolution shall be filed with the Director of Local Government Services by the City Clerk.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution establishes the temporary emergency appropriation for the Childhood Lead Program (CLEP) FY 2024, in the amount of $2,012,500.00. The New Jersey Department of Health, CLEP Program awarded the funds. The project period is July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
