WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the South 13th St. Block Association Party provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups, organizations, families, friends and residents to enjoy a festive day of food, drink, dancing and music; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the, South 13th St. Block Association Party to be held on South 13th Street between Madison Avenue and Clinton Avenue, (South Ward), from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. (South Ward), Saturday, August 23, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark's Special Event Permit Application ($100.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
2. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the South 13th St. Block Association Party to be held on South 13th Street between Madison Avenue and Clinton Avenue, (South Ward), from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. (South Ward), Saturday, August 23, 2023.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the South 13th Street Block Party, waiving the City of Newark's Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($100.00), for an event to be held on South 13th Streets between Madison Avenue and Clinton Avenue, on Saturday, August 23, 2025), from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., co-sponsored by Council President, Member C. Lawrence Crump.
