WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances an establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the South 20th Street Block Party provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various fun and games activities for families and friends that reside in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the South 20th Street Block Party, which will be held on South 20th Street between Clinton Avenue and Avon Avenue (South Ward), on Saturday, August 12, 2023, (Rain Date: August 19, 2023), from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the South 20th Street Block Party to be held on South 20th Street between Clinton Avenue and Avon Avenue (South Ward), on Saturday, August 12, 2023 (Rain Date: August 19, 2023), from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the South 20th Street Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Application Fee of ($50.00), which will be held on South 20th Street between Clinton Avenue and Avon Avenue (South Ward), on Saturday, August 12, 2023 (Rain Date: August 19, 2023), from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. sponsored by Council Member, Patrick O. Council.
