WHEREAS, the New Jersey Transit’s Bus Safety Department conducted an investigation for the proposed bus stop designation and found it acceptable as a bus stop; and
WHEREAS, at the request of the Department of Engineering and review of the traffic operations by New Jersey Transit in conjunction with the City’s Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals, and pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statues of New Jersey, the following described location is relocated as a bus stop:
DELETE BUS STOP:
1. In the Central Ward, along Raymond Boulevard, eastbound, on the southerly side thereof:
a. Broad Street, midblock
Beginning at the easterly curb line of Broad Street and extending 135 feet easterly therefrom.
ADD BUS STOP:
2. In the Central Ward, along Raymond Boulevard, eastbound, on the southerly side thereof:
a. Commerce Court, nearside.
Beginning at the westerly curb line of Commerce Court and extending 140 feet westerly therefrom.
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may by Ordinance, Resolution or Regulation designate, relocate or delete a bus stop.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. In the Central Ward, the following described location is hereby relocated as a bus stop:
From Raymond Boulevard, eastbound on the southerly side at Broad Street, midblock location. Beginning at the easterly curb line of Broad Street and extending 135 feet easterly therefrom.
To Raymond Boulevard, eastbound on the southerly side at Commerce Court, nearside location. Beginning at the westerly curb line of Commerce Court and extending 140 feet westerly therefrom.
2. No municipal funds expended for this act.
3. No amendment to this Resolution without the approval of the Municipal Council.
4. Upon approval, the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering will forward a copy of this Resolution to the Office of the City Clerk to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the relocation of a bus stop as stated.
5. Upon approval, a certified copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to New Jersey Transit to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the relocation of a bus stop as stated.
6. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(e) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, the proposed bus stop designation does not require New Jersey Department of Transportation’s approval.
STATEMENT
This Resolution designates the relocation of a bus stop in the Central Ward as follows:
From along Raymond Boulevard eastbound, on the southerly side thereof at Broad Street, at the midblock location, beginning at the easterly curb line of Broad Street and extending 135 feet easterly therefrom. To along Raymond Boulevard eastbound, on the southerly side thereof at Commerce Court, at the nearside location, beginning at the westerly curb line of Commerce Court and extending 140 feet westerly therefrom.
